WHO AM I?

My name is Julian and I'm a Session Drummer, Percussionist and Educator

I am a drummer, percussionist and educator based in Staffordshire

Originally from South Wales, I have been playing drums since I was 13 years old.

Over the years, I have performed with a number of different artists across a wide range of musical genres.

I have recently been working and touring with "The Casuals", who had a UK no. 2 hit "Jesamine". I recently toured UK theatres with "The Goldhawks" (Who Tribute) performing the "Quadrophenia" album in it's entirety, along with other great Who tracks. I also recently toured with the UK theatre show "Bad Boys Of Country".

In 2008, I toured and recorded with an Elvis Tribute Band called "In Memory Of The King". An award-winning band, "In Memory Of The King" played many theatre shows throughout South Wales and South West. The band recorded 2 EPs.

In 2009, I performed alongside Jason Bittner (Shadowfall), Robin Guy (Independent), Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams) and JoJo Mayer (Nerve) at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena as part of a charity event called "Stick It To MS" in aid of the MS Society.

In 2011, I joined Alternative Rock Band "They Walk Among Us". A three-piece band from Cardiff, the music is multi-layered and musically dexterous. The band are no strangers to touring with two big American tours under their belt. The last of which spanned three months and saw the band play in over 36 cities across 26 states. These tours brought much acclaim state side, a thing many other British bands can but dream of. The band has worked with producers Richard Jackson (Super Furry Animals and The Automatic) and Charlie Francis (REM, Kaiser Chiefs and Turin Brakes).

In 2015, I joined Alt-Indie band "The Kathryn Wheel". A four-piece from Cheshire, the band gigged extensively through Manchester, Liverpool and the North West.

I have recorded albums, EPs and singles with "The Kathryn Wheel", "Cory Band" and "BTM Band".

I have performed throughout UK and Europe at venues including Royal Albert Hall, Millennium Stadium, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall, MusicHalle Munich.

I have performed alongside Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey and have appeared on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Introducing.

I also perform as a Session Drummer/Percussionist with bands from a wide range of genres as required as well as running a successful drum school from my home studio in Staffordshire, following both the Rockschool and Guildhall Trinity syllabuses. My drumming influences are many and varied and include Gregg Bissonette, Steve White, Vinnie Colaiuta, Marco Minnemann, Dave Weckl and Buddy Rich. However, for me, Louis Bellson is at the top. "...my Dad bought me a recording of 'Skin Deep'. I will never forget hearing it for the first time. It blew me away!"
