I was born in South Wales.
I started playing percussion when I was 13 years old, having been given an old snare drum by a music teacher at school, following which I introduced to the local county Youth Brass Band (MGYBB) where I was lucky enough to gain free lessons.
During my time with MGYBB, I performed gigs throughout South Wales, including many at the St. David Hall, Cardiff and also toured to Europe on a number occasions.
I left MGYBB and continued my playing with the world-famous Cory Band and later the BTM Band performing at many venues throughout the UK, including some of UK's top concert halls - namely Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall and St. Davids Hall and also toured Europe.
I recorded two albums while with the Cory Band and BTM Band.
Wanting a change of music, I formed his own band called LivingLoud. LivingLoud gigged weekly and were together for 5 years before naturally drifting apart.
In 2008, I became involved with an Elvis Tribute Band entitled "In Memory Of The King". An award-winning band, "In Memory Of The King" played many theatre shows throughout South Wales and South West including the Blackwood Miners Institute - Blackwood being home to the Manic Street Preachers. The band recorded a 3-track EP called "Rip It Up".
In 2009, I performed alongside Jason Bittner (Shadowfall), Robin Guy (Independent), Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams) and JoJo Mayer (Nerve) at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena as part of a charity event called "Stick It To MS" in aid of MS Society.
Then, in 2011, I joined South Wales based Alternative Rock Band "They Walk Among Us". A three-piece band from Cardiff, the music is multi-layered and musically dexterous - a laptop provides accomanying electronic element of a spectrum of sounds. The band are no strangers to touring with two big American tours under their belt. The last of which spanned three months and saw the band play in over 36 cities across 26 states. These tours brought much acclaim state side, a thing many other British bands can but dream of. The band has worked with producers Richard Jackson (Super Furry Animals and The Automatic) and Charlie Francis (REM, Kaiser Chiefs and Turin Brakes).
I have performed alongside Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey and have appeared on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Wales.
Notable Venues include Millennium Stadium (Cardiff), Royal Albert Hall (London), Symphony Hall (Birmingham), St. Davids Hall (Cardiff),
Coal Exchange (Cardiff), NAW (Cardiff Bay), MusicHalle (Munich) and National Indoor Arena (Birmingham)
I also perform as a Session Drummer/Percussionist with bands from a wide range of genres as required as well as running a successful drum school following both the Rockschool and Guildhall Trinity syllabuses.
My drumming influences are many and varied and include Gregg Bissonette, Steve White, Vinnie Colaiuta, Marco Minnemann, Dave Weckl and Buddy Rich. However, for me, Louis Bellson is at the top. "...my Dad bought me a recording of 'Skin Deep'. I will never forget hearing it for the first time. It blew me away!"
